Recently I visited my Hometown (Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh) and spend some time near Govind Sagar Lake at Lathiani, a small town in Una District of Himachal Pradesh.

One can see a long stretch of Govind Sagar Lake from a hill which divides Hamirpur District from Una. When I go from Delhi to Hamirpur, this place comes on the way.

In October and November, when the water level of the reservoir is high, a series of regattas are also organizing by the Tourism and Civil Aviation department. Water-skiing, sailing, kayaking and water scooter racing are popular water sports activities during this period. (This happens near bilaspur)Bilaspur is about 83 km. away from the railway station at Anandpur Sahib.

Fishing is commonly practised here. It has about fifty one species and sub species. Labeo dero, Tor pitutrata, Mystus seenghala and Mirror carp are some of the common species found here.<>
This reservoir on the Sutlej, has been created by the huge hydel dam at Bhakra and has been named in honour of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru. One of the world's highest gravity dams, the Bhakra dam rises nearly 225.5 m above its lowest foundations.
