I happened to travel on Gurgaon-Jhajhar road this weekend and chanced upon the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. Though this is not the best season to visit as most of the migratory birds have already left by this time, it was worth the 10 minutes that I spent there. First of all, it was better maintained than I had expected it to be and, second, there were still some birds around.
The road that leads to the bird sanctuary. It is smooth and good at places. Many stretches are still being rebuilt so you need to take frequent detours.
A small mud path leading to the lake at the center.
Some birds that can be sighted here.
The way back from the lake. It was very serene and calm with only bird sounds to break the silence.
The Lake @ Sultaanpur Bird Sanctuary, Haryana, INDIA
There were little islands at the center of the lake. And this was the place where some birds could still be seen
The trees were casting some interesting shadows on the path.
Flower trees add interesting contrast to the place.
I wonder if one can indeed sight flamingoes here. Sounds improbable though.
