On the way from Chamba to Dalhousie, my taxi-wallah stopped at a peaceful location where one could easily access the rocky banks of the river Ravi that flows along the town of Chamba. The blue waters of the river present a striking contrast againsts the brown rocks and mountains. The wide spectrum of various colors enriches this untouched rustic landscape.
The river snakes through the rocks and pebbles and the mountains. It has carved its way through them across the centuries.
A couple of local village boys were having a liqour party. They chose the highest of the rocks on the bank.
The distant bridge and the rounded rocks make this location worth painting.
The ripples in the water paint beautiful light patterns on the rocks below.
As the water levels were low during this season, numerous small pools had formed on the banks. The river bed was slippery because of age old algae.
These pools were the ideal play ponds for little birds. See if you can spot one in this picture.
