If you are visiting the fort, you should reserve one complete day for it and should preferably have rested properly before the visit. The best way to see all buildings inside the fort properly is on a car. And, yes, do hire a guide. If nothing else, you will enjoy the stories. Dried up lake outside Rani Padmini's palace. It is here where Alauddin saw Rani Padmini's reflection and because obsessed with her beauty.The garden outside Rana Kumbha's palace.Inside Rana Kumbha's palace. Rani Padmini supposedly committed Jauhar here with her female companions Vijay Stambh, built by Rana Kumbha in the fifteenth century to commemorate his victory over the Gujarat and Malwa Muslim rulers.Kirti Stambh, built by a Jain Merchant. This is now dedicated to Adinatha.Temples of Meera bai and Lord Krishna. It is said that the legendary worshiper of Lord krishna, stayed here for some time.A small temple at the far end of the fort. There was a beautiful view of the sunset from here.

It is perhaps the largest such palace in the whole of Rajasthan. Maharana Udai Mirza Singh is said to have got this built because he was instructed by a sage to do so at this very location. The palace is located on the banks of lake Pichola very near the Jagdish palace and can also be seen from the Monsoon Palace on the hill top.The Palace represents a fusion of the Rajasthani and Mughal style of construction and has been used as a location for various films. It is clean enough and is an ideal setting for any horror movie. Thats just how I like forts. The scarier, the better. More passageways, crumbling walls, staircases to nowhere add to the charm.The most imposing monument inside the fort is the Rana Kumbha Palace which has many legends associated with it. This monument was built originally by the founder of the House of Mewar, Bappa Rawal in 734 AD, it was renovated by Maharana Kumbha (1433-1468). The famed Lord Krishna devotee Mira Bai lived here once. Maharani Padmini performed the legendary Jauhar (The act of suicide by fire to save one's honor) here with her 700 female followers.Looking at the ruins now, one can probably imagine that this place is haunted by the ghosts of its past. I wouldn't spend a night here alone at any cost.We had loads of fun climbing on the tumble-down walls and exploring passage ways. And ideal place to run into a mystery.Even though the fort is old, the parts that are still standing look sturdy. And there are so many doorways, windows looking down from dark chambers that it sends shivers down one's spine.Even within the Rana Kumbha Palace, there were structures that could have been temples, stables, cowsheds etc. It was huge.This was a place where one could spend a whole day just walking and still not cover all the chambers and passages. You could not make out what passage led to which terrace. Bhool Bhaluaiya.In its days of glory, the palace must have been atleat 4 story high. However, some of those chambers high up are not accessible now. I wonder what secret they hide.This courtyard seems like the place where a crowd of over 700 ladies could drown themselves in fire. This is not THE best time to visit Rajasthan if you are not as lucky as we were. As soon as we deboarded the Ajmer Shatabdi, clouds started gathering. There was rain and hail in the evening. Rest of the trip was pleasant owing to the weather and the resort. We stayed in the Pushkar Heritage resort which is the last resort on the Panchkund road. This meant that it was right at the foot of a beautiful and scenic hilly landscape.Pushkar, Resort or Hotel, Resort or Hotel, dog, tourism, Rajasthan, ajmer,These weaver bird nests were the next pleasant surprize. They added a lot to the rustic and close-to-nature feel of the resort.

I am not sure how much it is used for that purpose now, but it definitely provides a panoramic view of the Udaipur City. The drive to the palace is pleasant through a wild-life sanctuary, which is a reserve for reptiles, tigers, nilgai, sambhar, wild boars, hyenas, panthers, and jackals. And, as expected, we did not see any of those during the ride. The Monsoon Palace is also the Sunset Point. When we visited, a quite crowd was waiting for the sun to set with their cameras ready on the Tripods. It was a peaceful, safe, and beautiful place, Rajasthan, Udaipur, Sunset, Monsoon, Palace, Monsoon Palace. Aravalli, Hills

  Dalhousie is one of the most popular Hill Stations in Himachal  and there is lot to explore around Dalhousie. This is small and very well maintained town in Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh . This Photo Journey shares some of the exciting places around Chamba and how to plan a good one day tour through Khajjiar, Chamba & Chamera etc. CHAMERA HYDROLIC PROJECT Chamera Hydroelectric Project is located in Banikhet, 7 kms from Dalhousie. The water body near the lake is very scenic and is a popular boating spot. Chamera Dam is around 40 kilometers from Chamba Town. It takes approximately 1.5 hrs to reach the place is road condition is good. Overall it’s a little dry terrain as compared to Dalhousie and Khajjiar. And temperature also goes up as we go towards Chamera Dam.  As you move out from Chamba town, you follow Ravi river for some time and then take right. After 45 minutes of drive, you get a glimpse of Chemera Dam.
