Road Side Views in Lahaul Spiti which is also known as land of Gods...

Three years back I visited Lahaul and Spiti District with some of  my friends... Here I am going to share some experiences of road journey in Lahaul where most of the times road has rocky hills on one side and river on the other side... Not at every place but at least during the initial journey after entering into the district from Kullu region.. Here are few photographs of this journey in Lahaul in Himachal Pradesh, INDIA...

It is 21km from Chandra Tal. This district is connected to Manali through the Rohtang Pass. To the south, Spiti ends 24 km from Tabo, at the Pare chu gorge where the road enters Kinnaur and joins with National Highway No. 22.Military Camps on other side of the River... Military trucks can be normally seen on Leh highway there are some camps on the way.. Areas around these camps are normally very clean and scenic...Chandrabhaga river near Tandi in Lahual-Spiti District of Himachal Pradesh State of INDIA...The two valleys are quite different in character. Spiti is more barren and difficult to cross... It is enclosed between lofty ranges, with the Spiti river rushing out of a gorge in the southeast to meet the Sutlej River. It is a typical mountain desert area with an average annual rainfall of only 170 mm....Chandrabhaga cutting these colorful hills from different places to make a route towards its final destination....There were many water streams meeting to the main river on the sides of these roads...Chandra River which was flowing on one side of the road and other side had very high hills... All these roads were very narrow till Tandi... Sometimes I was very afraid of giving pass to other side vehicle... Since river was on left side for us, we had to move on left-most edge for giving pass to the vehicle coming from other side... first in my life I was afraid of road journey and it was more difficult for me in the night when there are huge roar of the water flowing at very high speed in these rivers... Main places to see & Top things to do around Dalhousie : Stunning Hill Station in Himalayan State of India

  Dalhousie is one of the most popular Hill Stations in Himachal  and there is lot to explore around Dalhousie. This is small and very well maintained town in Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh . This Photo Journey shares some of the exciting places around Chamba and how to plan a good one day tour through Khajjiar, Chamba & Chamera etc. CHAMERA HYDROLIC PROJECT Chamera Hydroelectric Project is located in Banikhet, 7 kms from Dalhousie. The water body near the lake is very scenic and is a popular boating spot. Chamera Dam is around 40 kilometers from Chamba Town. It takes approximately 1.5 hrs to reach the place is road condition is good. Overall it’s a little dry terrain as compared to Dalhousie and Khajjiar. And temperature also goes up as we go towards Chamera Dam.  As you move out from Chamba town, you follow Ravi river for some time and then take right. After 45 minutes of drive, you get a glimpse of Chemera Dam.
