Wonderful stay at Sarahan Village of Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh (During MTB Himachal 2010) : PART-1
During the Mountain Terrain Biking Himachal 2010, we reached Kullu Sarahan on third day and fourth day was rest day... All of us spent a wonderful day in Kullu Sarahan village... During fourth day we also went for a trek and here are few photographs of our stay at Kullu Sarahan Village on fourth day ... Check out !!!
There was a colorful temple in the middle of Sarahan Village.... Due to some reasons it was closed and we were not able to see it inside...
Kullu Sarahan village has a beautiful landscape and a government HPPWD rest house. During july/august/september, many folks reach the village for trekking and some of these trekkers stay at the rest house near a huge ground in the village... Its like a valley on top of hills... There is a popular trek from Kullu Sarahan to Bashleo Pass which passes through dense jungles, various waterfalls and green meadows...
There was a small open area outside the temple where fair happens every year and many gods from neighboring villages come here to meet each other... Their is a tradition of gods in upper Himachal where most of the villages have their own Gods and even these gods have relationship with each other... There are some defined occasions when they meet each other....
Bashleo Pass is a near is a mountain pass located at an altitude of 3300 meters. It connects Kullu Sarahan to Bathad. Bashleo pass opens in April till November. In winters, the route is closed due to heavy snowfall in this region. However locals people might trek during clear days in winters as well but trekking for amateur trekkers is not advisable during these months. The pass is located at a distance of approximately 6 kilometers from Bathad and 5 kilometers from Kullu Sarahan village...
Here is a photograph of local container used for bringing crops to home.... They tie it on backs and keep cutting crops... When its full, crops are brought to home.... I had asked one lady about the name of this particular thing but forgot now.... This is created by Bamboo sticks and their are some experts in Himachal who can create anything out of Bamboo (Doomna Community)...
Most of the houses in Sarahan Village are made up of wood and stones... Sharp sunlight hitting one side of the house and most of them were facing a deep valley in front of snow capped hills of Bashleo Pass ...
Sweet children in th village... some of them were following us to know what these guys are doing inside the village... Few of them were teasing one of the photographers with fireworks... It was Diwali time and they were spending most of the time near shops having lots of crackers...

Its possible to take Motorbikes till this village...
I was reading some 3-4 year older posts on forums, which said that the road goes up from baghipul but is just short of Kullu sarahan. The last 1.5-2km have to be covered on foot.
But since you've been there recently,I take your info to be correct.I'll be heading there soon.
