Mobile-giri at one of the amazing place in Delhi (Dilli Metro), while waiting for Metor-train towards my destinations during last few months
Don't we all remember the time when we used to be stuck in traffic for hours on roads continuously unders constructions and the ever-increasing numbers of four-wheelers on the roads of Delhi? Travelling to office was a nightmarish experience. And that was only a few years back. Things have changed now. And no wonder that they have. After all a whole new mode of transport has been introduced into the lives of Delhi wallahs. Yes, The Delhi Metro.
The exquisitely designed stations situated at a comfortable distance are luring and people choose to par their vehicles in spacious parkings provided by DMRC and then commute on Metro for work.
The shiny, stylish trains with airconditioning help you stay fresh as opposed to the smoke and dust filled road travel.
The clocks on the stations always show the correct time and you can always plan your journeys better because the trains leave and arrive at a pre-defined frequency.
Squeaky clean platforms make one wonder where people are spitting or littering. At other places, we can't seem to be able to live without it so how do we manage to keep our metro clean? One school of thought is that Metro will enhance the civic sense of people eventually. I wish that is sooner than later.
Metro is the favorite mode of transpost of college crowd as well. During exam times, they can even be seen studying en route to the exam centers. Rest of the cool metro travellers stuff earphones into their ears and mind their own businesses. People rarely bother with one another.
Delhi crowd adopted Metro at an alarming speed. Lakhs of people turned up when the line from Indraprastha to Noida was first opened to public. Many of them simply to try it.
People patiently wait behind the yellow lines and it is surprising to see that people don't try to jump across the tracks to get to the other side though there have been a few attempts to jump in front of the arriving trains.
Metro stations are equipped with the latest and best services. In spite of the unmanageable crowd, the system more-or-less always works.
Wish they would clean the rubble beneath the tracks too once the construction is over. Probably they haven't yet got to this part. At least the road is clean. Where is everyone? This is too much empty space considering this is Delhi.
For me, Metro has changed lot of things and now it's very easy to plan weekends on runtime !
This is that part of Delhi where people seem to have some time to spare. Some time to be patient and just sit and talk. I wish there were more such places and modes of transport in Delhi.
