Mountain Terrain Biking - What about other than Bike Riding ?Apart from joining passionate bike riders in Himalayas, it was great experience to interact with different people in Himachal and got to know about different cultures, crops, geographic differences etc... Check out this Photo Journey to feel the experiences...Real Engineers of India !!! A very calm guy working on road-side... We met him near Baghi-Pul while going towards snow-covered hills of Jalori Pass... He was doing his work very honestly and calmly... When we stopped near to this point, he also offered us water form a very limited stock !!!A sweet lady offering apples to hungry people who have been walking since morning after very light breakfast at camps !!! It was second day, when all the riders had to cross some rivers and hills on foot by carrying their bikes... It was very tough day and we were really hungry... Some of us were drinking water again n again to keep ourselves motivated to walk more for getting packed lunch :) ... On the way this sweet lady offered some apples by looking at our condition... We were really happy and no words to Thanks this kindness !!!Himalayan fields look amazing while travelling on heights... especially the view is amazing during early morning and sunsets.... All the farms during sunset look like golden fields... Most of the people in core himalayan regions are dependent on Agriculture !!!With all the bike riding in Himalayas, one can really cherish the moments spent around rivers of different sizes... It's very common to see waterbody every 10 kilometers, and that can be in terms of river, streams, waterfalls etc... And I guess, I am too conservative when I said 10 kilometers... Probably 5 kilometers is appropriate for core regions....Refreshing snow covered Hills make all the rides more enjoyable !!! Weather really impacts the way we plan our rides and of course, a major reason to go to Himalayas is weather as well... during day time, one can even manage with T-Shirts, while evenings will be chilling even in August month... Proper arrangements of tents is critical thing while planning...Morning Dew !!! I hardly wake up early enough to witness all these but while travelling, I hardly spend time sleeping :) ... Travelling is all about experiencing things rather sitting at one place or sleeping in Hotels or camps !!! And this also provide an opportunity to explore normal things like Dew drops which is not specific to Hills :)A bit of trekking to such hills can make the trip more enjoyable unless one wants to ride only... I have met some passionate riders, who trek with bikes and try to ride on these snow covered hills... It's a bit hard in Himachal Region as treks are not that simple to climb with bikes and then ride them on the top, but of course, people do proper research before they decide something like this....While riding in Himalayas, one should not forget to try local food and the photograph above shows crops of chalai, which is used to make bread and consumed mostly during winters... It's considered that chali is very good for keeping our body warm... Let me make it simple to understand... It's like RUM !The best places to put tents in Himalayan regions are school-playgrounds and there are lot of reasons behind that.. NO effort required to make the place ready for putting tents, most of the resources like water or other stuff is readily available etc... But many times riders get fascinated by plane grounds in middle of forests etc...Variety of flowers, herbs and trees is Himalayas is unique & something which is enjoyed by lot of folks.... The colors, freshness, fragrances, fruits etc are something very unique to Himalayan territories...Exploring rural areas of hills is always exciting... Those innocent kids always waiving while we ride and humble people all around to help you with various things on the way... This is great part of these rides which goes through non-commercial places ...Himalayan Villages have unique architecture... Most of the houses made up of raw stones, wood and hardly there is anything like cement or iron bars... Although new houses will be no different than what we see in big cities... But still the old houses rock because they are best when we think about weather...Here is a typical example of village house in Himalayan ranges which are in Himachal Pradesh state of India... Typically two story house with wooden stairs and no cement used... Now, people have started using cement to avoid frequent maintenance... All these houses are designed by local priests and design of most of the houses in a village will be same.. Most of the things like, direction of doors, kitchen location etc... The commercial Vastu we have in big cities these days, is there for last many years... They used to follow all the common vastu stuff while constructing a new house, although the terms Vastu is now known to them...Hills are also very spiritual and somehow all hilly states in India call themselves as DEV-BHOOMI :) ... At least I see this in Himachal and Uttrakhand at least ! And this doesn't restrict to Hindu Religion... Many folks from various parts of the world come to Himachal to learn Vaidik-Shiksha, Tibetian culture and religion etc...Lifestyle of Himalayan people is really different from rest of the world and they have different things to cherish in their lives... Above photograph is just an example of stuff they use to bring grass for their cattle, OR collect stuff from their farms OR bringing Apples, Vegetables home etc... This is called 'dall', which is made up of bamboo and used almost daily... Usual schedule is to get up in morning, feed their cattle... Move towards their farms and make sure things are right with some work for better crops.. come back with some grass and vegetables.... Have some rest and one more round in the evening...Apart from riding bikes, Camping has another joy associated with it... Only thing is company you have... More creative and interesting people you have around, more enjoyable would be the evenings.... Some music, nice snacks with booze and some thumkas :)And while in hills, if you miss sparkling stars... nothing worse can be that... Hills are best places to get clear view of shining stars... People who know more about the movement of these stars can better decide the route to have best view of all such wonderful things we have read in our schools !!!By looking at this movement, do you remember star movements near north and South poles and their orientation :) ... I don't remember exactly but it is great fun to notice this movement by lying down on the ground in relaxed mood...Bike riding is of course fun but there are lot many things in hills which can enjoyed along with your ride... While go out for such outing, it's always good to know about the places on the way and what could be interesting for us...Bon Voyage !!!

Apart from riding bikes, Camping has another joy associated with it... Only thing is company you have... More creative and interesting people you have around, more enjoyable would be the evenings.... Some music, nice snacks with booze and some thumkas :)
