Recently Ranjit Kapoor directed three new plays with NSD Repertory - 'Chekhov ki Duniya', 'Aadamzad' and 'Punchlight' !!! Sunil Upadhyay being one of the main characters in these plays. Let's have a qucik PHOTO JOURNEY of Aadamzad play, which was showcased at Sammukh, NSD, Mandi House, Delhi !!!
While one troop of NSD Repertory company is busy in Banglore and other cities, Ranjit Kapoor picked other folks to work on three new plays. Other folks are showing Summer Theatre plays in other cities. Sunil was one of the main characters in those plays but he stayed back for these new set of plays and did a great job !!!
Aadamzad starts with a song by whole cast of this wonderful play by Ranjit Kapoor. This time I was not very comfortable in clicking photographs inside this auditorium. During Summer Festival, NSD used to announce that 'don't use flash during play', but this time there was no such announcement, so I was not comfortable. Although I had taken permissions. At times, people start clicking photographs with Mobiles and by default flash is ON for low light conditions. This becomes really weird while play is running and someone use flash. Most of the times, I take few seconds to lift us the camera and click a shot with appropriate gap between two consecutive shots. It's really important to make sure that we don't distract audience and actors in that auditorium !!!
Aadamzad is a story about people with bad intentions for their selfish reasons. It started with a couple who were trying to have baby and had tried various tantras to have a baby. It's difficult for me to explain the extent to which they did wrong things to have one. The man standing above is talking to her 5th wife and you need to watch the play for knowing the story of other 4 wives...
Then a girl came to their place and started telling her story.. Here she is getting married to a businessman. Just after marriage her husband went back to his business-city. She got pregnant and then left her 15 days baby at home... Again to know more about the reason, 'why'... you need to see Aadamzad !!!
These folks sing wonderful songs during the play !!! There are various songs during the play and all of them are actually sung by actors of this play. Anirudh was lead singer here and he sung them really well !!!
Prasanna Soni, who was playing the role of brother-in-law of lady who left her home. He was regularly describing whole situation to his elder brother although in a different form. Without disclosing more about him, I will simply close the caption of this photograph here.
After some efforts by this person, baby was rescued from the other village, but story took a turn here. This couple was unimaginably cruel and did some acts which can't be described here. Watching this play becomes must to know about this human nature for selfish reasons...
Let me shut up and not disclose the story here !!! Few things are obvious in these photographs but, play was not that obvious... So keep guessing and wait for next act of Aadamzad !!!
Expressions can be wrong and overall environment can be misleading... Aadamzad also talk about this fact that how cheap things human-beings can do when it comes to their personal benefits.
Weapons are used in this play very well... Overall actions were flawless and close to real stuff !!!
That baby became a 'Daku' later ... Sunil Upadhyay played the role of this 'Daku'.. But why he is standing with this couple who are not his parents. Does he know about his past and what he wants to do in future ??
Rajini, who never got pregnant and kept trying different tona-totkas ... But unhappy most of the times... She was fifth wife of Kailash (original name of this character)

Anirudh Wankar was main dictator of this story and he was really amazing. He described various acts brilliantly and sung each song with full enthusiasm.
