Mountain Terrain Biking, Himachal Pradesh 2011 - Day 4 - Rest, Trekking, Camping, Music & Dance at Kullu Sarhan
After continuous riding for last three days, it was time to relax and enjoy a complete day at wonderful place called Kullu Sarahan. If you are not aware of Kullu Sarahan, I would recommend to check out the PHOTO JOURNEY of this wonderful village @ SARAHAN and then continue this one...
Our camping site was ground of government school at Kullu Sarahan. This school is located in the middle of a huge ground surrounded by snow covered peaks of Shrikhand mountain range...
Day started with bright sunlight and temperature started increasing and soon after we started feeling like summers :) ... During evenings, it was quite cold and one had to wear at least three layers of clothes..
Folks having fun in pure sunlight in Himalayas... Fresh air with pleasant warmth of morning sunlight... btw, Arjun on left was running to get clicked in this frame :) ... There were these four huge trees at beginning of the village... Can you guess the height of these trees?
Laundry time... It was best time to clean clothes for upcoming four days and make sure that health of cycles was good.... And in fact this day was must for all the riders as they were much tired during last three days... Organizers made their best efforts to choose the toughest route, but riders had to ride through that :)
Cycle wash near one of the water-stream at Kullu Sarahan.. There were lots of water streams around Sarahan ground and chilled water was flowing through all these... That's why all of these riders preferred to clean cycles and clothes during noon time...
Whole environment around Sarahan village was awesome and I can't explain that in words... cattle all around the lush green ground, people having sunbath with no rush in life, birds flying around the water streams, wonderful views of waterfalls on nearby mountains, ladies going towards fileds, children playing cricket in ground and some of them sitting in classes :)
Most of the children had school on that day although they also wanted to interact with riders, who were roaming all around ...
I don't know the name of this particular container which is mostly used in hills... People carry this while they go their fields or orchards and mainly used to bring things home... Grass, Apples, firewood etc...
btw, what's going on here... I have heard, this is not legal and still these guys trying to make something here... Basically these folks are actors and asked to act like this and they did it very well... Mr. Rohit Sharma has worked in many bollywood movies while Kshitiz has just joined this acting school...
Last year we had seen lot of fields with crops of charas but this year there was nothing as Police had destroyed everything... But unfortunately that was one of the main source of income for these people...
Some of the folks from our camp started climbing towards two beautiful waterfalls which were visible form Camp-site... Chris, Hema and Ekta were enjoying this trek while I was tired even after this climb of 1 kilometer... At times I thought of quitting but my PHOTO JOURNEY would have been incomplete without that :)
Fresh Himalayan Herbs with nice fragrance...
Kshitiz had decided to know what exactly happens after rubbing these herbs on hands... He did it but finally washed his hands with chilled water of water stream flowing along our path...
Few more folks joined in... Some specific people were very happy to meet :) Can smile be a parameter to understand the level of happiness ???
While we saw this bridge, we stopped for a while to evaluate a process to cross it... Some of us were even thinking of putting off the shoes and go through water... Suddenly a lady came from other side and crossed this bridge in few seconds :) ... Although this was not very difficult but some of the budhijivi's made it difficult :) ...
Here is a view of one of the waterfalls.. This one was not approachable as their was no defined path and one had to cross through a dense forest and some water-streams with high pressure... anyway, this waterfall was never our goal :) ... We moved ahead and suddenly heard some sounds from hills upward... One group was coming back and it seemed that waterfall was just 2 kilometers away ...
A view of second waterfall where we all intended to go...
Some interesting trees on the way from Sarahan village to nearby waterfalls...
Hema posing with Himachali dhatu on her head...
Three girl-trekkers of the gang who accomplished this mission of reaching second waterfall of Kullu Sarahan :) - Mona, Hema and Ekta !!!
Finally we reached near this beautiful waterfall... Mr. Rohit Sharma, Hema and Chris posing in front this waterfall @ Kullu Sarahan, Himachal Pradesh !!!
All of us had refreshing bath in chilling water of this waterfall and some of us started shivering like hell... But still, everyone enjoyed this trek, bath and some other activities which can't be disclosed... Some of the engineers also constructed a dam near this waterfall and name was given as 'DAMFOOL' ... this FOOL is FULL actually... Dam which was full of water... what a logical name it was... Credit goes to Rohit and company !!!
After a final glance at this waterfall we started moving down and everyone was hungry by this time... Although lunch time was over but still we had some hope to get something to eat...
Folks standing on same bridge while coming back and some of the crazy bike riders crossed it with bikes while riding...
Don't know the exact name, but something similar to mushrooms which was grown on top of an old wooden block... I found it interesting and had a quick shot...
Villages love their cattle like their family members and take proper care... Some of the folks in village sell milk in market nearby... nearest market was Baghipul which was 13 kilometer from this village and there was not a single bus to this village... So I was wondering how these folks would have been carrying milk everyday and how much time they would spend in a day in to n fro...
This lady was carrying grass for goats at home... Daily routine of these villagers roam around going to fields to take care of crops and bring back some grass for cattle... Apart from that arranging firewood etc...
Here is a photograph clicked near one of the water stream overlooking surrounding mountains of Shrikhand mountain range...
Here was a best opportunity to wash all the vehicles and a Mahindra Thar enjoying bath in water stream of Kullu Sarahan, Himachal Pradesh !!!
While not dive into the stream and have some fun....
Ohh.. How can I miss these :) ... Our washrooms :) .... Don't think much... this was just a place for hand wash.. There were proper washroom created of tents in cube shape... Probably I will share a photograph during this series of PHOTO JOURNEYs...
It was best time to make sure that bikes are good for next 4 days and in case required, repair them ... I think most of the riders washed their bikes and checked them properly during this break at Kullu Sarahan... And I am not sure if I shared or not, but most of the bikers were skilled enough to handle minor faults in their bikes...
Chris reassembling his bike after complete checkup !
The worst part of this stay was spreading waste all around.. Although most of the Marshals were disciplined but still I saw many beer bottles lying in nearby water stream and village kids were picking them from chilled water for selling them for 1 Rs each...
I am not sure what Nirjala was doing with her Tyre...
Bam Bam Bhole... Although real stuff is not there in photograph but matchbox lying on the rock is proof of something around this place...
Other folks also having some Prashad with Baba ji @ Kullu Sarahan, Himachal Pradesh !!!
