Last week, a motorsport event took place in Mohali (Near Chandigarh), which was organized by OYA Auto Cross and Motorcross. JK Tyre was one of the main sponsor of this event and it continued for three days. During final day I also visited the ground to bring this PHOTO JOURNEY for you. Let's check it out...
Cars were literally flying on this ground and whole region was full of dust only. At times it was difficult to see these moving cars. It was hard to imagine that we were standing on a ground which is not in states like Rajasthan. The only word was coming to my mind at that point of time - Dust-Storm, like the one happens in Rajasthan; 'Desert Storm'... Let's check out more photographs from this series of Dust-Storm in Chandigarh...
Different types of Cars and Bikes participated in this event, but cars competitions were mainly compelling us to rename it as 'Dust Storm'. Only two cars at a time were enough to cover sky with dust.
I am not sure what this 'Dewars' was, but various pillars were planted on this ground. These should be some brands who supported this motorsport event. Barista was also there to serve snacks and drinks, but not sure if they were sponsors or not.
Different cars by Honda, Maruti, Mitsubishi & Toyota participated in this event. At times, it was hard to believe that some specific cars can fly like this... One of the rider was very well controlling a white Swift, and it was competing with a 4 by 4 Jypsy...
These cars were making the ground-dust to fly in air and at times, they used to cover themselves by dust storms. Specifically, there was huge dust on taking any turn.
A colorful Maruti Car going down into a tunnel which was created artificially on this ground for Motorcross competitions during 3rd OYA sports-event.
Passion of all these riders was commendable and it was hard to imagine that human beings were driving these super-machines.
'Dust Storm' is something coined on run-time and not related to this event.
I tried to check about this event on FMSCI website but couldn't find any details. Website of OYA was not much helpful for me to get information as non-motorsport person. Anyway, please have a loo at following link to know more about the organization which organized this event in Mohali - http://oyamohali.com
Whole ground was surrounded by lot of people who wanted to see these races, but unfortunately the dust was biggest enemy. After one lap of car racing, there was nothing visible on ground. So everyone was more excited about bike racing, which had more participants at one point of time and things were visible as least.
Motrosports in India is one of the increasing passion among people in cities like chadigarh. Now India is also getting some powerful machines, which was not that easy few years back. But still lot of folks can't afford these powerful machines without sponsorship and in such competitions, it's not easy thing to compete with imported machines with our usual bikes.
Another shot where another car is contributing to Dust Storm on this ground in Mohali, Punjab, INDIA...
After lot of dust in above photographs, I also thought of sharing some bike photographs to show another side of the PHOTO JOURNEY...
It seems that bikers in such competitions also use their legs as supporting equipment while turning these machines on extremely high speed.
With this, let me finish this Photo Journey of Dust Storm in Chandigarh (Mohali, Punjab)
