I hope that you have already checked other Photo Journeys from OYA Motorsports, Mohali. If not, just check out following two Photo Journeys and continue with this one -
Jk Tyre OYA Auto Cross and Motorcross @ Mohali, Punjab || Motorsports in India
Dust Storm at Mohali (Chandigarh), Punjab || JKTYRE OYA Auto Cross and Motorcross
Let's check out this Photo Journey from Mohali...
In this Photo Journey, we are sharing some of the photographs from space outside the ground where all these activities happened during JK Tyre OYA Autocross and Motorcross. There were lots of modified cars and jeeps on the ground. Some of them were amazingly done with wonderful collection of lights, specially designed tyres and other stuff, which I don't understand.
Aneesh's Car @ Oya Autocross & Motorcross. Somehow I missed F1 stickers on the car and apart from that this car flies like anything. After the event, we used the same to roam around Chandigarh.
Here is a an Indian couple from US, who are out on world trip for last few months and they are using bike for the trip. It seems that both of them are very interested in Motorsports, as they have also participated in Raid-de-Himalayas in Oct'2011. I would love to know more about their plans about this trip !!!
One of the Mahindra 4 by 4 doing some practice on outer track of the ground. In fact, whole ground was designed in an amazing way. This ground is usually used for Sabzi-mandi in Phase-7 of Mohali, Punjab. For this event, various tracks were designed with appropriate distance, curves and hurdles on the way. There were some under ground paths carved as well.
One of the popular Indian Rider and winner of many national bike riding events !!! He did some demo rides during the breaks and he was only one who was literally flying on his bike. There was an elevated hurdles on the ground an most of the competitors were very cautious about the same. While he was taking advantage of that elevation to fly in the air. Some of the photographs of his bike flying in the air are available on links shared above.
Bike competitions were most exciting and other reason was visibility. People around this ground could not see car racing clearly, as there was lot of dust around the ground. While bike racing was very clear and there were more than 5 participants at a time as compared to 2 car competitors at any point of time.
I am not sure about standard speed but somehow they seemed slow as compared to riders who freely ride on hilly/plain roads. Probably these curvy tracks were designed in such a way that it was not easy to maintain the speed very high.
It was 3rd time, when OYA was organizing this event in Mohali, Punjab. JK Tyre was one of the main sponsor of this event, although I saw many of the other posters on the ground, which are also shown through some of the photographs shared in other two Photo Journeys.
The day was wonderfully spent on OYA Motorsport ground with all these passionate riders !!! First day of my official shutdown spent well in Mohali !!!
