As per TOI - 'Bharat Rang Mahotsav is showing 97 productions, including 16 foreign plays, at 11 venues in the capital city of India - Delhi. Poland will be the international focus country with three plays and two exhibitions while fringe groups like eunuchs, dwarfs and non-actors will get an opportunity to stage their productions, NSD chairperson Amal Allana announced on Tuesday during a media interface here.'

Originally a national festival showcasing the work of the most creative theatre workers in India, it has evolved to international scope, hosting theatre companies from around the world, and is now the largest theatre festival of Asia.'

Anuradha Kapur addressing the audience on inauguration day of Bharat Rang Mahotsav at Kamani Auditorium, Delhi. She also conveyed that some of the plays are being showcased in Amritsar, Punjab. This is first time that Bharat Rang Mahotsav is being celebrated in more than one cities of India and extended to other state of the nation. Wish that it keeps gorwing and other states can also taste the fun involved with a right mix of culture, theatre and art.
Bharat Rang Mahotsav started on 8th January and will end on 22nd Jan'2012. Various plays from different parts of the world would be showcased in different auditoriums of National School of Drama and other popular auditoriums around Mani House, Delhi.
15000 viewers are expected during these two weeks of the Festival. Most of the shows are full and were booked overnight on Bookmyshow. Some of the tickets were also sold at National School of Drama, but it was not that easy to get access to the counter as many theatre fans came early in the morning to line up for tickets. Good to see such enthusiasm towards Theatre and it's constantly increasing...
Every one on the auditorium was waiting to hear some words form Gues of Honor, Sharmila Tagore. She came up to the stage with a smile on her face and some emotional moments during the talk. She mentioned about some of the theatre artists who helped her in improving her acting skills during her career. She also mentioned about her interest in theatre since childhood and she was also a part of active theatre in her school.
Some laughter moments when Kumari Selja was addressing the audience at Kamani. Anuradha, Director NSD was happy to hear some of the announcements about improving theatre infrastructure and proving more funds for organizing such events in various parts of the country.
National School of Drama is very well decorated for this Festival and there is a special food court designed which will be accessible after plays in various Auditoriums of National School of Drama and others around it. I was bit surprised to see that most of the activities were outsourced while National School of Drama is extremely rich in terms of skills and humbleness they have. I wish people from NSD involve more in regular activities of Bharat Rang Mahotsav.
With all sweet memories of this evening with various excellencies form Theatre, Bollywood and Art, now it's time to watch some of the masterpieces by various productions from India and abroad. Keep watching this place for more updates from Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2012
