A visit to Punjab Eggs Poultry Farm in Rajpura, Punjab, India || Christmas-NewYear shutdown in Office
During Christmas vacations I visited Rajpura (a town in Punjab, India) with my friend, who was visiting one of his clients for some official purpose. We exactly went to a company called 'Punjab Eggs', which is one of the decent Egg producers of Punjab with main focus on nutrition. Here we are not going to share the technicalities involved, but a Photo Journey to a Punjab Eggs Farm. Let's check it out...
It was Monday, when I was in Chadigarh and my friend called me to get ready for Rajpura, which is a relatively small town in Punjab. It took approximately 1 Hr to reach the place. We had to meet Mr. Mohit Raja, which is one of the partner in Punjab Eggs. Naresh(my friend) had official meeting with Mohit, who is also managing some other companies in Rajpura Region.
Punjab Eggs is a brand of Raja Farms and one of the good quality product in North India, (as I got to know from this visit...) There are different types of eggs distributed by Peggs, depending upon the nutrition value. Different packing are used after automatic identification of different types of eggs.
Cleanness and discipline is one of the main demand of such poltery farms. Cars are not allowed to come inside the campus. In worst case, if any vehicle need to come inside this huge farm, there is a track full of water, so that tyres and lower part of the vehicle is cleaned before it actually enters that campus. If someone comes inside, some solution is sprayed on shoes.
Above photograph shows the preparations one need to do, before entering into the space where hens are kept under controlled temperature. A mask, cap & shoe cover etc.
Here is the first view after entering into the poultry farm and this whole setup was constructed in consultation with an Europian company. Things like, space (width, height, length), Air conditioning systems, alignment of exhaust fan, unit for automatically collection eggs, cleanness of each compartment, machines for providing feeds etc were designed in such a way that everything can be controlled through single unit on one of the corners of this poultry farm.
There were different alleys with 4 storey units on both side. Each alley had hens of different types. There were two containers in front of each row - One for providing feed and other for collecting Eggs. Eggs were automatically collected at a central place, where each of them is weighted and packed accordingly.

Many folks prefer yellow-cover eggs and some sections of this poultry farm were having hens of a particular species. As an egg hits the region you see in this photograph, egg count of the unit goes up and can be checked exact count anytime in the software installed on conputer, which is connected to the main control unit.
It was lunch time when we reached the poultry farm and all of them were busy in having their regular feed. Temperature inside was unbearable for us and whole environment was dusty due to feed distribution process, which is again handled automatically. But someone needs to refill the main container.
Here exactly is feed distribution unit, which keep moving between the compartments and provide appropriate amount of feed at regular intervals.
Hens on right side and waiting for their turn and feed-machine of their side is still on other end of the hall.
Exhaust fan installed on back-side of the poultry farm. each unit can be controlled separately and used to make sure that their is proper air ventilation, along with appropriate temperature inside the poultry farm.
Man standing in other room, where all eggs come through a rolling path. At the end of this moving path, there was a controller to weight each egg and move into appropriate sections. After this all eggs are collected and packed accordingly. There is a particular type of egg, which is marked for 'Peggs' logo...
A photograph of warehouse, where some of the egg containers were lying around a corner.
All special types of eggs are packed in this kind of packs with proper marking on them.
Others are served in standard treys.
To summarize this PHOTO JOURNEY - A Visit to fully automated Poultry Farm with Naresh and Mohit Raja. Punjab Eggs at Rajpura, Punjab, India takes care of hygiene and nutrition in their products. Overall it was a great experience to see this kind of setups in India.
