This Photo Journey shares some of the faces from Himalayan Mountain Terrain Biking 2011. Time has just come that HASTPA has started planning for 2012 event, which will happen in September. So I also thought of going through old photographs to recall wonderful memories with passionate people during MTB Himachal 2011...
People from different walks of life meet at Shimla and a new journey starts on their bikes(Cycles). This is more about their passion. Leaving their fast lives of big cities, they come for 8 days of riding in Himalayas. This one week outing gives them pleasure for rest of the year. Although many of them keep riding throughout the year, but such events have a different kind of fun.
This is the time when they get to meet with Cyclists from different parts of the world and exchange their thoughts/experiences. Apart from the opportunity to meet other like-minded folks, MTB Himalaya also provides a wonderful opportunity to explore parts of Himachal which are least explored...
Apart from Cyclists, we also get a chance to meet local folks. These interactions happen in different forms - Sometimes around local tea stalls, at times conversations about locality and sometimes some traditional music/dance activities are organized during evenings...

During MTB Himalayas, we also met some extremely passionate people with varied interests, who are make the journey more interesting.
Most of the folks in this group have extreme passion about one or another thing. Some part of it was apparent from the looks and some has to be explored after few minutes of conversation...
Here is a photograph of old champion of MTB Himalayas. Padam Subba who has won MTB Contest many times and now his trained Ajay Chettri is winning MTb Himalayas for last two years.
MTB Himalayas is organized by some experienced people who know all the terrains very well and of-course Himachal Pradesh Government supports this event by appropriate security arrangements & Medical backup in each part of the state. So there is a team which always moves with cyclists and some teams change from one place to other.
There are some spiritual landmarks on the route and above photograph shows Priest of hatu temple (near narkanda) ...
Trying local dresses can be one of the charm while in Himachal. Here one of the volunteer wearing 'Dhaatu', which is a cloth wrapped around head to save it from chilly winds of Himalayas.
Different gadgets can be seen all around - Cameras, Video Recorders, GPS Trackers etc...
Apart from Cycling, capturing natural beauty of Himachal Pradesh...
Proper diet is important during MTB Himalayas, as everyone needs to ride throughout the day. (Usually between 8am to 5pm)... Water is must thing to take after regular intervals...
Some people around us with always happy face make these journeys more interesting. Champ in above photograph is into Media, but a great multi-talent personality.
