Fun-filled trekking experience to Beautiful Temple of Maryari Devi near Sundarnagar in Mandi region of Himachal Pradesh, INDIA
While at my home-town in Himachal, I keep looking for opportunities to explore places around me. During Diwali visit, we thought of going to Maryari Devi temple in Mandi district. It's near to Sundarnagar town. Let's check out this Photo Journey to know more about this beautiful place.
One of my close friends made this plan to visit Maryari Devi. We started from our home at Baldwara and moved towards Trifaalghat via Smaila and then took the road for Sundarnagar. Maryari Devi temple comes on the way to Sundarnagar. Road condition can be seen in above photograph.
After few hours of driving through hilly terrains and beautiful valleys with agricultural land, we reached the place from where the trek starts for Maryari Devi. we parked our car near one of the shops there and got ready for the trek with appropriate stuff in our bags.
The whole path from road to the Maryari devi temple was made brilliantly as you can see in this photograph. This path crossed through various hills with agricultural land and grass fields all around. some patches of the path has some colorful wild flowers which adds beauty to the environment.
View to the valley was getting more interesting as we kept moving up. Notice this beautiful Himachali village in the foothill of Maryari Devi. A huge village around the road which connect Sundarnagar with Trifalghat. Most of the houses in the village have slanting roofs made up of stone tiles which are quite popular in Himachal Pradesh. These tiles are made up of huge rocks found in the hills which gets snowfall during most of the time in an year. These are considered as one of the strongest tiles and also add beauty quotient to the houses. Some of the houses have modern flat roofs made up of concrete. The orange stuff lying on these roofs is corn. Idea is to get the corn-seeds dry before storing at a safe place.
As compared to other treks and tourist places, this was quite clean but still we could see some spots with lot of plastic packets. One of the local man was walking with us and shared some really bad stories about impact on their agriculture business due to these plastic bags lying everywhere.
It was awesome to see some of the isolated houses with huge fields all around. This house was one of the main topic of discussion for us :) ... Everyone having different theories as per their definition to beautiful life :)
On the way we found some of the interesting herbs and wild flowers. Some of us were quite interested in clicking photographing Photographs even when it was getting dark and we had to climb up the remaining 40% path.
I was the last person to climb and used to take most of the time in clicking photographs. At one stage of time, I couldn't see any of the member and sunset hues were making me more worried about the distance I had to cover. At the same time, I was keeping myslef busyin enjoying these wonderful views in the deep valley drenched in sunset colors.
After few more steps, we could again see the temple and it seemed that we are almost there. But it was not true and the further trek took more time as compared to what we estimated. Maryari Devi temple is very beautiful and located on highest peak in this region. From this point we can see whole Sundarnagar town, but on that day it was not very clear because of mist in the air.
Here is something that we were seeing in the direction where Sundarnagar town is located. On the other side Jahu, Baldwara region is visible. Chilly winds flow on the top and it's important to carry warm cloths. It seemed that many people come to the temple late in evening and spend one night there. In the backyard of the main temple there was a building which looked like a place where temple committee has arrangements to make stay arrangements for few families.
Whole path from main road to temple is very well maintained and lights are also installed. It was really great to see amazing lighting arrangements on such a long path. This trek passes through pine forest as well. Above photograph is framed with pine trees only.
Finally we reached Maryari Devi temple by sunset time and had a round of whole campus. There is a huge ground in the backyard with a shop and a temple complex where some construction work was under progress. Sunset view was awesome on the top. The very first photograph of this Photo Journey was clicked on the top only.
We had wonderful darshan at Maryari Devi Temple because there were not many people at that point of time. After quick prayers at the temple, we started coming back. Now we were quite fast to reach the base and drive back home.
It was a great outing to Maryari Devi temple and I highly recommend this place to people in Himachal to plan a one day outing with family or friends. And to tourists who are there to see Parashar Lake.. They can plan for this temple as it's completely a different experience which will remain with you throughout the life...
