17-Mile Drive is a scenic road through Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach on the Monterey Peninsula in California
Last week we reached San Jose for some business purpose and we planned for 17 Mile Drive in Monterey in California. 17-Mile Drive is a scenic road through Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach on the Monterey Peninsula in California, which is around Pacific coastline and passes famous golf courses and mansions. Let's check out this Photo Journey to enjoy the wonderful moments while driving around 17 Mile Drive & Pebble Beach(s)...
It was Sunday when we hired a car from San Francisco and started with whole group from San Jose. One of the kind friends from San Jose picked his car and we started the journey towards Monterey . So two cars and 9 people. It's a wonderful drive from San Jose to Monterery, through huge agricultural land, beautiful houses, Ginger farms, Grazing grounds, Cattles, High hills, Huge mansions & Golf Courses.
Part
of 17 Mile Drive serves as the main road through the gated community of Pebble
Beach. Inside this community, nonresidents have to pay a toll to use the
road, which is $10 and it can be redeemed at Pebble Beach restaurant. Like the community, the majority of 17-Mile Drive is owned and
operated by the Pebble Beach Corporation. The 17-Mile Drive is a 17-mile
long scenic loop having five entrances, including one at California
State Route 1 and one at Pacific Grove off Sunset Drive.
Chief among the scenic attractions is the 'Lone Cypress Tree', a salt-pruned Monterey cypress (macrocarpa) tree which is the official symbol of Pebble Beach and a frequent fixture of television broadcasts from this area. In 1990 the Monterey Journal reported that Pebble Beach's lawyer, Kerry C. Smith, said 'The image of the tree has been trademarked by us,' and that it intended to control any display of the cypress for commercial purposes. The company had warned photographers that 'they cannot even use existing pictures of the tree for commercial purposes.' Other legal commentators have questioned the Pebble Beach Company's ability to invoke intellectual property laws to restrict others' use of such images.
Beaches around Pacific ocean were amazing, with lots of lovely birds flying around. When we enter into the 17 Mile drive, administration office at gate hands over a catalog with all points for tourist interest on the way. Roads have proper guiding information which makes the drive more enjoyable. On this drive, there are huge mansions with lot of space all around and a beautiful golf course, which touches Pacific Ocean.

Bird sitting on one of the rocks around shoreline of Pacific Ocean. There is a point on the way, where lot of birds, squirrels & Seals can be seen. They are huge number and people love to spend some time around this place.
After we finished the drive inside 17 Mile drive region, we went to an Indian restaurant in downtown for lunch. Everyone was happy to have great lunch here and this was best place where we got pure Indian food without any changes in the flavor.
There were hundreds of healthy squirrels roaming around the shoreline of Pacific Ocean and they were quite comfortable for the offerings by tourists there. Here is a photograph showing a fat squirrel comfortable accepting the offers to eat something.
