'DON'T POSE PLEASE' - New generation is looking for candid photographers for covering their special events (Pre-Weddings, Wedding/Cocktail Parties, Post-Wedding Receptions)
I have seen Brides & Grooms wining about the way Photographers ask them to pose for front pages of the album. Almost every couple hates this particular moment when photographers instruct Bride & Groom to stand in a particular way and look at different places. But still most of the Traditional Photographers (Studiowalas) put their best efforts to present good results after the wedding. Overall story looks sad for both the parties, but things are changing dramatically now. This Photo Journey shares some of the non-posed photographs along with current trends in main cities of India and here we are specifically talking about Indian Weddings and other related ceremonies.
So new generation in big cities of India is well aware about Candid Wedding Photography, which is named in different ways by different photographers. But for a Bride & Groom, more than type of photography it's important to capture the warmth of different ceremonies of an Indian Wedding. And how they relate to it is - 'don't ask to pose & capture the real moments'. Some of the photographers do it brilliantly and many of them fake big time.
When a family start the search for a good photographer, they intend to find someone who can cover all the ceremonies in a way that it gives a real feel of a wedding. Unfortunately organized Wedding Photography Industry is not very well prepared for all this. When I say 'organized Wedding Photography Industry', I mean the traditional photography folks - Studiowalas. Every Delhite knows about Prem Studios and when we visited their office in Prashant Vihar, they had again the typical stuff to show. And it's very unfortunate that folks sitting in these offices emphasize more on Album types instead of type of photography they do. Some of the keywords of the conversation were - Full-Frame Camera with bla-n-bla lenses, X Megapixel, Ceremonies, No Flash etc... But does that ensure good quality candid shots?
Good part is that lot of freelancers are doing Candid Photography with good quality, although pricing mismatch is there and it becomes difficult for the clients to take a confident decision. Internet is best source to find out about right Photographer who can cover different wedding ceremonies with full warmth intact.
Different names are being given to Candid photography, but the main idea remains the same - 'DON'T POSE PLEASE'.
In my opinion, with increasing demand of Candid Wedding Photographers we are seeing a big change that every photographer has started started doing it without even any clarity about the real aspect. These days, every Studio-wala is offering Candid Wedding Photography services but the quality of work is really pathetic. But the better part of the story is that new generation is Internet-savvy, so they have access to the work done by various photographers and have freedom to compare & decide.
Indian Wedding Photography industry is growing so fast that many of the professional photographers from different parts of the world are coming to Hindustan for exploring business opportunities and many of them are really successful. I don't want to quote any specific names of Wedding photographers, because readers should explore on their own without any influences. In case you are someone who wants some pointers, do message us or comment back. We should be able to share more details about the same.
Lot of creative innovations are happening in this area and Indians are yet to see the most creative Wedding photography...
