While in Goa, it's highly recommended to spend some part of the stay around Panjim City. Being in Panjim is a very different experience. There are some very interesting restaurants, pubs and shopping options with a very different enviornment all around. This Photo Journey shares some pictures from Panjim Town, along with some important details...
When we went for cruise on Mandovi River, we planned to have a round of Panjim city and have dinner there. We parked our car near the church across the river and started walking around the roads of Panjim town. After some shopping, we thought of finding a good place to dinner. It was not easy to decide because every other restaurant was unique and looked awesome. The very first criteria was to find a good place for sea-food, so all fancy restaurants offering Pizzas, baked stuff etc were out. There were some interesting bakeries as well, but we stopped ourselves to change the plan. After some time, we thought to call our car-owner from whom we had hired a Maruti WagonR for 4 days. We had only asked for the recommended restaurant but he suggested few interesting stores as well. Now first thing was solved for us, so we moved towards the recommended restaurant 'The Upper House', which was no doubt a great place to have food in Panjim. During the stay we visited three popular restaurants, but loved 'The Upper House' the most !
Panajim name tells - 'land that never floods'. It's a very interesting city with concrete buildings in different colors having
red-tiled roofs, churches and a riverside promenade. Most of the parts
of Panjim are green and well maintained. We visited the town many times during our stay in Goa and every time, it had some surprises for us. We loved being there and keep walking in the streets and markets of Panjim and especially the markets near casino lane around Mandovi River.
Panajim is capital city of Goa, which is one of the top tourist destinations in India. Panjim lies on the banks of the Mandovi River which is popular for it's cruise rides of different kinds. Panjim’s architecture clearly tells that it's quite different from other parts of the country. Goa has very different experiences and it's architecture tells unique story about the place. In the small old quarters of Fontainhas and Sao Tomé, winding alleyways are lined with Portuguese-style houses, boasting distinctive red-tiled roofs, wooden window shutters and rickety balconies decorated with bright pots of petunias. Here, whitewashed churches lurk down laneways, a short wander from technicolour Hindu temples.
Casino Royale, in Panjim around Madovi River, is the largest floating Casino in Goa. Casino Royale is considered as one of the most classiest casinos of Goa. On Casino Royale there is a gaming floor which is dedicated to most of the table games & slots. There is a poker room exclusively for the casino game. Visiting Casino Royale is itself an experience. There is a dining area in Casino Royale & China Garden manage the food here. During monsoons, it was not very happening, but it seems that during main tourist season live performances happens to entertain customers on Casino Royale.
While visiting Panjim, we also check Tripadvisor to make wise decisions but it turned out confusing. Tripadvisor showered 72 options in Panjim and many of them were not even in Panjim Town. It was good that we had visited many of those places during last two days, so we were well equipped to take a good call of not considering it's suggestions - HERE
Walking around these colorful streets of Panjim town is a very different experience and we recommend to spend some time around the town, especially in evening and then choose one of the popular restaurants or pubs to have a great evening.
