Picture Stack is one of the new features in Adobe
Photoshop Elements 10. This is one of the popular guided edit in latest
release of Adobe Photoshop Elements. Above image shows the final result
on right side and the original photograph used on left. Above photograph
is to give you an idea that if you are interested in such creation or
not. If still you have interest to try it out, let's see how easy it is.
In fact, at times I think if I should cover guided edits on my blog or
not, because Adobe already take care of the ease in using these Guided
Edits. Anyway, let's continue with real work now...
1. Open your photograph in Adobe Photoshop Elements - Editor.
2. Click on Guided Edit panel under Edit Tab of this Workspace, as highlighted in the image below.
3. There are various sections under Guided Edit, so go to 'Photo Play' section and click 'Picture Stack'. It will look like what you see in the image below. There are very clean steps mentioned about the way we need to proceed.
4. On clicking the first image on left, we will get partitions of this photograph with decent alignment of all. Whole Photograph will look like something created out of multiple pieces. btw, I selected the middle option to partition, you can play with these three options and it will give different number of pieces in your final result.
5. Next step is to fine tune the borders shown around these pieces. I increased the frame size a bit although the default one was also fine for me. So after playing with these options for frames, you can decide the one which suites best to your photograph.
6. Finally we can have gradient in the background if required or a solid color of your choice. I opted for gradient and following dialog is shown for selecting appropriate options.
7. Now we are almost done with Picture Stack out of photograph opened in Adobe Photoshop Elements. Click Done and go to File Menu for saving the output. You can also save it as PSD and there would be flexibility in manually changing location of these pieces and play around them.
After saving, we are done and here is how it looked after applying Picture Stack Guided Edit.
