Pushkar Camel Fair is a great opportunity for Photography enthusiasts to shoot different kinds of subjects/experiences and learn through challenging situations this Fair offers. Camel Trading, Horse dance, races, Foreigner's Bridal competition, Dance competitions and lot of interesting events happen throughout the week.
My blog title has been the same for last 6 years now and this one was also clicked in Pushkar. Pushkar Camel ground offers great sunset views and most of the photographers are found around these sand dunes with Camels all around & traders' camps.
Pushkar Lake is surrounded by various temples and Bramha temple is one of the most popular temples in the town. One can come to the ghats during early mornings and late evening to have some interesting shots. Lot of us don't encounter many of the events that happen in towns like Pushkar, and hence diverse set of photography opportunities.
This year, I would be leading a 3 days Photography Expedition in Pushkar Camel Fair organized by 'Delhi by Foot' and the main highlights would be -
* Explore sandy dunes where thousands of camels and horses graze, all bedecked in all their finery!
* Guided walks in the alleys and unique markets for some excellent Street Photography action!
* We watch unique village games and camel races for action/sports photography.
* Get amazed by the dazzling colors of Pushkar, more highlighted during the Meal…from amazing sunsets by the lake ghats to the colors of the sarees and jewellery in the markets, still-life shots.
* Enjoy cultural performances…Relaxing hospitality of Rajasthan!
* Enjoy the Village Mela ambience.
* Last but not the least, some amazing food at ‘hole-in-the-wall’ street food-wallas or cafes next to the Pushkar Lake Ghats!

Delhi by Foot team has been organizing some great expeditions in the country and have gained experience over the years. This year, I was with them for Hola Mohalla as well and enjoyed the whole tour guided by Ramit Mitra. Have a look at Ramit's clicks from last year's Pushkar Fair - Pushkar Camel Fair 2013
Rajasthan is also known as Colorful State of India and Pushkar Camel Fair makes you understand the reasons for that. If you are someone who love bright colors in your photographs, it's a great place to be during the fair. Lot of folks come from different parts of Rajasthan in their traditional attires for multiple reasons.
This image is shaky, but I like it for colors. Colors in most of the fairs in Rajasthan make them very special for Indians and foreigners.
Although fair happens during winters but weather gets a bit hot during the day and one needs warm cloths during mornings & evenings.
Aparna Mohindra was there in Pushkar last year and shared some brilliant captures from the town during Camel Fair. Please have a look and get a different perspective.
Vibrant street life of Pushkar and delicious food at roof-top cafes around lake makes the experience unmatchable at one of the world’s largest Camel and Cattle Fair. Camel ground situated around golden sand dunes around Pushkar will leave you surprised and inspired for using your photography skills in best way.
We are eagerly waiting to be there at Pushkar Camel Fair this year. Give us a shout if you want to join the gang !!
