It was around one year that I had not visited National School of Drama. There was time, when I used to visit this wonderful place in Delhi. Over the period of time, I made lot of friends at NSD. I am huge fan of these theatre artists of NSD, who keep me updated about plays happening in Delhi. One of my theatre friend sent me an sms to share that some great plays are happening during Bharat Rang Mahotsav. Finally I went there during one of the evenings and got a chance to watch Naseeruddin Shah's play Kambakht Bilkul Aurat. This Photo Journey shares some of the photographs clicked at Kamani Auditorium.
This play has 3 different stories and solo performances of Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa & Lovleen Mishra.
All three actors were brilliant and stories by Ismat Chughtai made the overall show unmatchable. A brilliant set of actors, great story and direction by Naseeruddin Shah - I am sure that you can imagine the level of this play. And of course, all plays selected for Bharat Rang Mahotsav have their own excellence levels.
First story was a solo performance by Manoj Pahwa. Manoj Pahwa is an Indian film and television actor who is noted for his role as Bhatia in the comedy series Office Office. He was in 45 films as a character actor including 7½ Phere (2005), Being Cyrus (2005), Singh Is Kinng (2008), Dabangg 2 (2012) and Jolly LLB (2013).
Many of the visitors at Kamani thought that Naseeruddin Shah is also playing a role in this play, but Naseer is director of this play.
Loveleen Mishra is best known for her portrayal of Preeti aka Chhutki in India’s first soap, Humlog, which began in 1984 and ended the following year.
A college student at the time, Mishra was handpicked to play the avant garde young woman from a middle-class family who aspired to be a doctor. A brilliant performer, Mishra continued working in other TV serials, both as an actor and writer. But she is best known for her roles as an actress and writer in Bollywood films Yuva, Godmother and City of Joy.
Every year, Bharat Rang Mahotsav bring this opportunity to see some of the best theatre plays from different parts of the world.
After watching the play, I headed towards National School of Drama campus. Campus is decorated during Bharat Rang Mahotsav and this year, Theatre Bazar was setup separately. Very well planned festival !
Just after the entry a beautiful seating place was installed under a huge tree. This area was surrounded by colorful walls with photographs of artists who performed in Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2015.
I was super impressed to see a Mungfali wala getting equal place amongst the fancy food stalls by some of the popular food-chains in Delhi. I also bought some mungfali from mr Chote lal.
During Bharat Rang Mahotsav you can see some of the brilliant bollywood actors who belongs to core Indian Theatre. Above is one of the photographs of Mr Raghubir Yadav. This was clicked from a distance. There were many other known faces around, but I somehow I didn't feel like picking up my camera and click their photigraphs. Many times, such acts propagate others to shoot flashes on these celebrities when they want to enjoy their time with like minded artists from different parts of the world.
