Yesterday was a very interesting day in the history of Delhi. A new political party composed of members who have zero experience in politics, swept the elections, leaving no seats for any other party to form a decent opposition. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) not only regained lost ground in the assembly elections, it conquered the constituencies that were so far thought to be the strongholds of experienced political parties like Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress (INC).
Arvind Kejriwal, Yogendra Yadav, Kumar Vishwas, and the rest of the members of AAP have made several promises to the people of Delhi regarding the key issues, such as corruption, power, water etc. And it is my personal view (as well as that of some top journalists) that this is one of the most important contributing factors that has led to their landslide victory.
It is now time to fulfill those promises. Just like was expected of Modi in 2014, Kejriwal also has to hit the ground running. Delhiites have proven time and again that they are a thinking, contemplative population and do not refrain from asking questions and delivering punishments when those promises are not fulfilled or those questions are not answered. So more than anyone else I think this post goes to Kejriwal and his team in the Aam Aadmi Party. They must keep in mind that promises are NOT meant to be broken.
A very HAPPY PROMISE DAY and best wishes to Aam Aadmi Party, the people of Delhi, and the rest of the world. Value your promises above everything else.
