One can play to have a bicycle or segway to explore this beautiful part of the city. When I think about San Francsico, Golden Gate Park comes as a place which can offer you lot in terms of expereince and knowledge about history.
It's a huge park starting at the Pacific ocean going all the way to the other end of downtown.
There are some tours available wherein you are accompanied by a guide to share you about different places, their importance etc.
The lakes are surrounded by lot of birds and you can see lot of birders around this place. Depends upon the time of the year, you can also see migratory birds around Golden Gate park. Kids enjoy this part of the Golden Gate park a lot.
