While the beginning of June saw a slowdown as far as travel was concerned, things picked up a bit towards the end. After extensive research, we settled upon Binsar as our next travel destination. We chose to stay in the KMVN Tourist Rest House inside the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary and the next three days were some of the most memorable days of our lives. Without power and cellphone connectivity, we were compelled to look at other forms of entertainment, such as trekking, birding, jungle walks, and of course chatting with each other and playing board games. And in doing all this, we realized how much we have actually been missing in our daily lives.
While in cities or even when we are travelling to places that have internet connectivity, most of our time is spent fiddling with our various devices, updating statuses on social media, and in general staying connected with everything except with the place we are at, with the people who are physically present around us, and most importantly with ourselves. And in the process we do not realize that we are losing precious moments with our loved ones. During our trip to Binsar, we realized that this needs to be corrected immediately. We will soon be sharing tips on how to stay connected with people around us while also staying up to date on social media.
More on Binsar will soon follow. But in the meanwhile let us take a look at what we did during the last month:
Travel
We took a trip down the memory lane and remembered our Road Trip to Lahual and Spiti. We also revisited Kullu-Sarahan, which is a beautiful place for camping. We then revisited a lesser known place for travel, which is Saat Sarovar. We recalled our experience at Jungle GetAway Campsite in Sattal.
Taste of Culture
Himachali Dham is a practice unique to Himachal and it is amazing how the entire village comes together to make it happen for the family that has a reason to celebrate. We delved deeper into this practice and the result is this write-up: Himachali Dham - The comfort & Simplicity of Himachali food.
We visited and wrote about an annual cultural event in the Capital, the Summer Theatre Festival at National School of Drama near Connaught Place. This is one event we personally love attending.
We took a shot at the Paisa Vasool culture of India and discussed how someone who is born without the Paisa Vasool gene can make the most of it.
Events
Cocktail events are our favorite and we were pretty excited to be invited to the Negroni Week celebrations at Zerruco, Ashoka Hotel, Delhi, where we got a chance to taste the cocktail and also to see it being prepared.
Tips and Tricks
Trekking is not only about the adrenaline rush. Some treks involve actual danger and you need to ensure that you are prepared for eventualities. We have put together a list of tips at Tips to prepare for Shrikhand Mahadev Trek in Great National Himalayan Park, Himachal Pradesh for our friends who intend to take up Shrikhand Mahadev or similar treks.

This month we saw the debut of two authors - Arun and Shivani. They managed to catch quite a few eyeballs with their posts on Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and Lake Tahoe. If you haven't read their posts already, now is a good time to do so:
July will most likely start with us recounting our experience of Binsar. So do watch out for our posts. And do pray for a good monsoon season, like we are.
