It's that time of year, when you see 3 prominent colors all around. Colors are Indian flag are most prominent all around - Saffron, white and Indian Green. Be it food, dress codes in offices or schools, caps etc. This Photo Journey shares the spirit of Independence Day and how it's celebrated in different parts of India.
Independence Day is celebrated by all state governments in respective capitals and center government celebrates it in Delhi. Prime Minister of India deliver a speech from Red Fort. I remember my childhood days when almost everyone in the family used to sit together and listen to the speech by Prime Minister on Doordarshan. Many times, I have also sung songs during celebrations at school.
It's a very exciting time for kids. Kite flying is one of the main activities which happen around 15th of August every year. Fancy dress competitions are also organized at school. Gandhi, Netaji Subhash, Jhansi ki Rani & lot of freedom fighter characters are chosen by kids and they look supercool in these dresses.
Most of government offices, monuments and special places are decorated for celebrating Independence Day. Whole Rashtrapati Bhawan is lit with lights.
Indian has got independence on 15th August 1947 and this day is very special for all Indians. This is a special day to remember those who fought for independence and helped us having a good life. If we think deeply about it, it's very important to be independent at country and as an individual. This is very precious and all of us should appreciate that.
