Walking around hills of Dalhousie Public School, Himachal Pradesh (India)

Recently when I visited Khajjiar, I spent some time walking around Dalhousie town , Lakkad Mandi, Kala Top and Panchpula . The weather around Dalhousie hills ensures that you don't sit inside the room and sip ginger tea. Clouds keep playing hide-n-seek and the freshness of hills never make you feel tired. This Photo Journey shares some of the beautiful walks around Dalhousie town. Here I am not sharing the know walks around Mall road of Dalhousie. One of the beautiful walks is trek from Gandhi Chowk towards Lakkad Mandi. There are two routes - One is via Dalhousie Public school and the other starts from Gandhi Chowk & goes through dense forest. Both are motor-able roads, so you can also plan to take your vehicle if the distance is too much. From Lakkad Mandi, there are two treks - one is towards Kala Top on the left and other is Dainkund on right. Trek towards Dainkund is steep, while walk towards Kala-top is very comfortable. No hike and beautiful walk in dense forest of high deodars. You might find some interesting birds around Kala-top.Notice above photograph and the water source. This water is coming from one of the natural water streams around Dalhousie hills. Most of these shops install their own pipelines to get 24*7 water supply.Above panorama is clicked with SamsungS5 around Nainikhad, when my bus stopped there for tea break. During these 15 minutes, I walked ahead and asked the conductor to pick me on their way. All these landscapes make you feel that you should find a hut around these hills and stay-back. These terrains expose you to simple lives of villagers and a genuine smile all the time. There is another beautiful walk from Gandhi Chowk of Dalhousie to Panchpula Waterfalls. It's 3 kilometers downhill from Dalhousie town till Panchpula. This road offers you brilliant views of Dalhousie town and green valley with few villages. On the other side, you would see a unique village with all brown colored houses of same size. This village looks abandoned. I wish to trek to this village some time. One can go towards this high hill from Panchpula. There is a small route which takes you to the village. A stretch of 1.5 kilometers on Dalhousie-Khajjiar road is maintained by Dalhousie Public School. This road is full of colorful flowers all around and near school campus one army tank , a Mig and few missiles are installed. Kids like going around this place.During sunset time, one can walk around Subhash Chowk. There are 4 roads on Subhash Chowk - 2 of them go towards Gandhi Chowk, one leads you to bus-stand and the fourth one takes you downwards towards Dalhousie hospital road which takes a turn towards right and exposes you to brilliant sunset views. This road connects you back at Subhash Chowk from other side of the church. These are again very well known walks or treks around Dalhousie and there is no need to limit ourself to these treks. Hills also offer you flexibility of discovering your own terrains and define your own treks. And it's very interesting and easy if you plan short treks/walks.
