Few weekend back, we were planning a day trip with Nishant and idea was to drive to a place around Delhi and spent a day out without our digital devices :).
Initially we thought of visiting Neemrana Fort, but on Saturday we were awake till late. All of us were busy talking and went to bed a 2am. Before sleeping, we realized that it would be an aggressive plan to wake up early in the morning and drive. So finally we ended up in Museum of Natural History and we enjoyed our visit to this brilliant place in Central Delhi. This post shares more about the museum and some interesting facts.
National Museum of Natural History is located inside the FICCI Auditorium building in Central Delhi. This is located near Himachal Bhawan, National School of Drama and Bengali Market. One needs to take the main entry gate of FICCI auditorium and go to the first floor from reception. Museum is spread over 3 floors. Entry is free, but every visitor need to do an entry on a register placed outside the museum.
There is enough parking space outside FICCI auditorium. If you are there on Sunday, it's easier to find parking. We parked near Triveni Kala Sangam.
This museum is very well curated. While visiting on three floors of this museum I realized that I didn't know many of the things shared through graphics, models or digital games. There are some of the animals which are well preserved through chemical processing.
These stairs take you to different floors of the museum. Here I don't want to share the details about things inside, because I want you to visit and explore the yourself. btw, there is a dinosaur bone preserved in this museum :).
Apart from exhibits there are few electronic and digital panels to play audio visuals. There are some interactive panels where kids can play games in form of quizes. Most of these panels are quite old but still interesting and educative.
It can be tiring to walk around the museum, but authorities have arranged seating facilities inside the halls where exhibits are installed.
We had a great day exploring National Museum of Natural History and I strongly recommend it for kids in Delhi & families visiting the city.
