A Must-do walk around Bengaluru - Vidhan Soudha, Cubbon Park, Karnataka Aquarium, Science & Art Museum
Using local transportation and walking around the place are few of the better ways to explore a place & know it well. During my recent visit to Banglore, I planned to walk around Vidhan Soudha & Cubbon Park. This post shares about places one can explore on feet and why this is one of the recommended region to walk around and explore the city.
I took Metro to reach Vidhan Soudha, took a round of this huge campus. Just opposite to Vidhan Soudha you see another beautiful building of Karnataka High Court. Initially idea was to visit Art Museum, so I used GPS and started walking towards it. On the way, I crossed the beautiful post office building and how could I miss clicking this photograph of red post-box.
Just next to this Post office, I saw this plane and some beautiful buildings and wide road on opposite side. As I went closer, I realized that it's an entry point for Cubbon park. So I though of going inside and see ho it looks. Few folks at my hotel had mentioned about Cubbon Park.
This huge green land is awesome. It was weekend so lot of folks were indulged in jogging, playing cricket/badminton. There were few photography enthusiasts clicking newbie models against the green backgrounds. I spent some time around Cubbon park and then headed towards the other end of park.
Government Aquarium of Karnataka is on other end of Cubbon park. I planned to visit the same. It's entry ticket is 5 rs and a must do experience if you are around. And plan it specifically if you are out with kids.
I took a break and had snacks at McDonalds, which is just opposite to the museum.
From here if you start walking, Visvesvarya Industrial & Technology Museum is just 5 minutes away. So I had a break there. A brilliant place for kids and must visit. It's better than science museum in Delhi.
Finally I landed at Art Museum , which is just next to Visvesvarya Industrial & Technology Museum. And this was my favourite place from the day. Brilliant collection of art at this place.
UB City was just across the museum but not really at walkable distance. Anyways, I didn't have plans to visit UB city that day. Now I had to meet my friend for lunch. He asked me to reach Church street Social. I switched on GPS and started walking towards Church street now.
It was a bright sunny day during winters. Weather of Bengaluru is wonderful to explore the city on feet.
While walking with GPS directions, St. Marks Cathedral came on my way and I planned to step in as my friend was getting late due to popular 'traffic' of Bengaluru.
Soon after I was at MG Road and my destination was close by. Checked out some showrooms, as my friend was still 30 minutes away. Finally we celebrated the day with few drinks at Social and then headed to UB City for meeting more friends in late evening.
