Travel, even if one is passionate about it, can be exhausting. Even for adults, being on the road, taking long-haul flights, not sleeping in their own beds, can take a huge toll. One can only imagine how tough it is for children. They usually do not have a say in whether, when, or where to travel. They need to abide by their parents' decisions and even in that we expect them to take it all in their strides. We often see cranky kids on airplanes or misbehaving 6-years-olds in trains. It is very difficult to bring up travel-happy kids. However, a few couples we know have mastered the art. Not only are their kids travel-happy, they also make good use of these opportunities by making killer school projects or by giving back to travel community just like Vrinda is doing.
Kuhu (also known as Vrinda) recently started her own Youtube Channel, Vrinda's Adventures, and has already posted three very interesting and inspiring videos. You can subscribe to it to stay up-to-date. The first video she posted was about London. Aptly titled "London for Kids, by a kid" the video is entertaining to watch as well as informative for those planning to visit the city with their kids. I also would like to put in a word about the quality of video editing. Effects and artifacts have been used to add humour, and it works brilliantly. No doubt there is some adult supervision here, but if you strive for quality in your kid's project, you are setting the best possible example for her.
The second video is about Spain, and Kuhu talks about things and places that your kids may find fascinating for various reasons. Spoken from the perspective of a child, the video can be enlightening for parents. For example, parents may assume that a historical place will be of no interest to a kid, but you may be in for a surprise. Your kid may love the place because of a dude who makes huge bubbles there or because an old pathway looks like a maze. We may forget this as we grow up, but the world appears far more magical to a kid, so you never know what will hold a child's attention.
The third video on the channel is really helpful if
you are planning a road trip and want to keep your children engaged. In
this video, Kuhu and Pihu talk about the various games that children
can play during travel to keep themselves entertained. These games are
informative and will take your child's attention away from your
smartphone, which is more than parents can hope for.
On the whole, "Vrinda's Adventures" is a fantastic example where parents not only succeeded in making their child interested in travel, but also channeled her energies in the right direction. If Kuhu can keep at this, she will one day have a huge repository of content to her name and also memories that she has captured and shared so artistically.
