In the Spotlight - Tanya Mahendra, a Fashion Blogger & Influencer with keen interest in Travel & exploration
Today in our most inspiring & popular series 'In The Spotlight', we are sharing about Tanya Mahendra who is a Fashion blogger and has keen interest in Travel & exploring places at her ease. Without saying much, let's hear out in her words -
1. About you: Tell us about your place, your education, and profession. (you can certainly add the travel adventures you have been doing for quite some time now. You can also mention about how you look at Fashion in the Travel context.)
I am from Delhi, I have done IT Hons. in my graduation and then joined fashion college to do Masters in Fashion Management from Pearl Academy and exchange from Domus Academy, Milan. I have worked with H&M, UK, for some time but working as a full time professional, didn’t let me travel freely. Then there was the time when I had to choose between a well-paid job or to take a risk and follow my dreams and you can guess what did I choose, I chose to follow my dreams and continue my traveling and fashion journey.
2. Your Travel experience: Tell us since when you've been started exploring places. When did you start taking Travel seriously?
Traveling is the fuel to my soul, it makes me happy but initially, my traveling was with family and soon I realized that a luxurious vacation is not something which I look forward to. For me traveling means meeting the local people, understand their culture and to try the local cuisine. That is my kind of travel. Soon after my graduation, I started blogging which was initially focused on fashion but unknowingly I kept writing about my travel stories as well. So on my blog, I talk about both fashion and travel.
3. We know you are also an accomplished Fashion blogger in India. How did this journey start for you?
Thanks for that. I used to advise my friends all the time about what to wear and what not to, what looks good with what, and everyone used to take suggestions from me regarding where to travel and what to do. So my friends suggested me to write all that in a blog and help more people who are in doubts or seek advice that’s how my journey began. Initially, I just wrote about the things which I liked and which I thought might be good information for others. Soon I started getting great responses from people around the country and they started requesting for different topics. With that, I started documenting about the places where I used to go, writing about what kind of clothes one should carry, what they should buy and where they can find those items.
4. What is so special about your city/country and its life/culture? How your city influenced you to look at Fashion & Travel in a special way.
India is a diverse and a very colorful country where one can spot something different and vibrant at every corner of the street. We have good four seasons of weather which gives us a great opportunity to style clothes according to the weather need. Fashion and travel go hand in hand. Before traveling to any place, I make a huge list of things I want to do there.I also finalize my clothes and accessories according to the places where I will be going to.
5. What are your sources of inspirations? Do you have some favorite Bloggers/Personalities? How do you keep yourself motivated?
I take inspiration from anything and everything around me. I seek inspirations from my travel, from the people I meet, from the books I read and from the latest trends the world and I follow.
I look up to a lot of different bloggers, choosing one would be difficult. Song of Style has always been one of my favorite fashion blogs as I find her very honest to her followers, creative and stylish. Priyanka Chopra is another person whom I adore, she is bold, strong, edgy, smart and super talented.
6. What is your core Mantra of blogging?
My mantra of blogging is to stay true to your followers as they are here just for you, what you suggest or say, is what they follow so never mislead them. Talk only about those products which you will use, clothes which you will wear, food which you will eat and places you will visit. In the end, give more than what you/ expect.
7. What piece of advice do you wish to give to aspiring/budding bloggers, fans, and readers of the post?
My advice to the aspiring/budding bloggers is to follow your passion. Do what you love, be honest about your work. It’s a lot of hard work which goes into blogging, have patience and keep up the good work and the result will be sweet.
Last but not the least, do not be the part of the rat race. Always take inspiration, do not copy it. Be original and always carry your own style.
