Above photograph is showing elephant outside Bhadra Fort, but it's not because of the fort but Bhadra Temple. Locals believe in feeding elephant and crossing under it. This is considered auspicious. We noticed 2 fruit vendor kiosks close-by who were making good amount of money because of this elephant standing outside the temple. Looked like a good way to create some cash flow and I would not be surprised if these vendors keep the elephant man happy to ensure that he comes to this temple regularly.

Bhadra Fort is situated in the walled city area of Ahmedabad, India which is relatively older part of Ahmedabad City of Gujrat. Bhadra fort was built by Ahmad Shah I in 14th century. With its well carved royal palaces, mosques, gates and open spaces, it was renovated in 2014 by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as a cultural centre for the city. When we were visiting Gujrat during Navratri time, this fort was closed because there were Garba evenings planned in front of the main gate and there were good number of changing rooms inside the Bhadra Fort of Ahmedabad.

Bhadra Fort used to have royal palaces and the beautiful Nagina Baugh and the royal Ahmed Shah's Mosque on the west side and an open area known as Maidan-Shah on one of the other sides of the sort. During royal era fort complex was used as a royal court. Teen Darwaza is very close by and stands in the middle of the market area of Old Ahmedabad, although Teen Darwaza is in pretty bad shape and spaces under it was quite stinky. The road beyond Teen Darwaza leads to Manek Chowk, which is popular for Jewellery shops and night food market. Jama Masjid of Ahmedabad is also pretty close to this place.
