The trek goes through the dense forest of oak, pine and deodar trees, then leading into the meadows, and finally towards the holy lake. Hikers from all over Kinnaur and other parts of Himachal Pradesh visit this holy lake during Janmashtami festival to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. This is very special about many treks in Himachal that these places are also pilgrims. The other such treks are Shrikhand Mahadev and Kinner Kailash. You must have guessed the gods associated with these treks. Both of these treks are difficult in comparison to Yulla Kanda Trek. Locals from Kalpa and Pangi village go through the trek via Kashang Pass , which is at the height of ~4800m. One can also approach Kafnu village via Listigarang Pass located towards North-West of Yulla lake. From Kafnu one can further continue the trek towards Bhabha Pass, a gateway from Kinnaur to Spiti.
Yulla Kanda trekking offers brilliant landscape view of Kinnaur mountains, which are usually heard a lot in context of hiking in Himachal Pradesh. An hour trek from Yulla Kanda towards the North-East will take you to Rora Kanda, where one can do the overnight camping with the breathtaking view of passes around.
On a clear sunny bright day, one can also witness Buran Pass from Yulla Kanda. Buran pass is the gateway to Chandernahan Lakes, which is the source of Pabbar river flowing through Rohru and finally which gets merged with Yamuna river.
There are multiple treks like this in Kinnaur region and this region has more difficult treks in comparison to other parts of Himachal Pradesh. But you know that it's not fair to compare one trek with another as all of them are unique in many ways and expose you to some lifetime experiences.
