Recently I have been sharing posts from recent Goa trip. As you may know by now that it was a work trip and we stayed there for a week. The place we chose for this work meetup was Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, which is in Panjim and close to Miramar beach. In this blogpost, I will share more about Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, it's location, amenities, services, food etc.
Goa Marriott Resort & Spa is close to Miramar beach. Above photograph shows one of the waterfront swimming pool of the property. So when you are in this pool, you see Indian ocean on the other side. w.r.t. to this photograph, ocean is on right side and we shall share more photographs which give you a sense about the location of ocean w.r.t. to this resort and swimming pool. Before all that, you may want to see this video.
Here is a photograph of same swimming pool from other side and now you see ocean on the left. Imagine sitting here in the evening with only sound of ocean waves bouncing against the walls of Goa Marriott Resort & Spa.

Somehow this poolside location had become our favourite to hangout in free time or for indulging in discussions (work as well as non-work). Above photograph is again shot around this pool but during sunset. In monsoons, there is a huge range of sunsets you see. Some great ones, some okish and at times sun sets without leaving any hues in the sky. The one you see in above photograph is an Ok sunset. Hope you understand what I mean. I love those sunsets which leave a very different mark in the sky and hopefully with some strong clouds to play some hide and seek.

During the week, I observed folks spending having some 'me time' around the shore. All of this sounded very interesting and encouraging. At the same time I was wondering how many people come to Goa just for some peaceful time and to just listen to the ocean waves. It may not be very evident from whole Goa perception the world has but there must be decent population coming to Goa for peace or spiritual reasons. and when we go there, there must be plenty of beaches in India which are more peaceful. If you know any beach which is peaceful and safe, please drop a comment and let us know. Not only in Goa but anywhere in India.

There is a nice walking path around the boundary of Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, overlooking the ocean. At the end of this path, you can exit the property and reach Miramar beach. Usually there is a security on the other end to ensure on guests are using that path to enter or exit the property to access Miramar beach. The other way to reach Miramar beach is to exit through reception area and then take a small detour through main road of Panjim. That one is also a small walk to the beach and we preferred to walk through the main road.

That way, this resort and probably many other resorts in Panjim are different than what you get in South or North Goa. Especially the resorts in South Goa have direct access to beach and most of the times, these beaches are private to the property.

Let's talk a little bit about rooms. To start with, rooms at Goa Marriott Resort & Spa are well maintained. Overall it was a comfortable stay but room sizes are relatively small. Let me put things in context - if you are going to Goa and finding resort at the budget which aligns with Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, you get better room space.

Goa Marriott Resort & Spa is in Panjim and if you move in north direction from it's location, you start seeing all the famous casinos on your left and most of them are approachable through walk as well, but it's a decent walk for 20-25 mins. Other option is to book taxi. Ola/Uber doesn't work in Goa but one can opt for Goa Miles. Some of my colleagues used it and they found it convenient. The famous way to commute in Goa is rent a bike or car.
Goa Marriott Resort & Spa has very well maintained green areas and I was tempted to find the gardener to get some cuttings for my home. Vibha and I usually do this wherever we travel, but over time we have stopped doing it as we are unable to take care of our plants. Today we have very few plants in comparison what we used to have a few years ago. Now we have lot more space for plants than we used to have earlier, but still we are keeping the maintenance efforts low. As we are talking about 'plants' and 'Goa', Jardim Dé Esperança comes to my mind.

Overall Goa Marriott Resort & Spa is a spacious property but if you compare it with resorts you can find in South Goa, it's not as spacious. And you will know that when you research about properties available in South Goa in terms of pricing, amenities etc. While I am writing about Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, I realised that I never shared about Zuri White Resort in South Goa. But hold on. Am I saying there are better properties in South Goa - yes. But does that mean Goa Marriott Resort & Spa is not good enough - No. It depends what you are looking for and what are important aspects for you. There are pros and cons of staying in Panjim city vs other parts of Goa.

During the trip, I didn't find time to try all amenities available at Goa Marriott Resort & Spa. But let's talk about food aspect. Resort has Waterfront Restaurant and there is one Azur close to reception area of the resort. We used to have breakfast at Azur. Overall food was ok, but can't complain. Whatever was served was decent. Space was clean and service was decent. They used to have live counter and I specifically liked dosas served during breakfast. We used to have lunch in a specific area for whole company as buffet and had good variety everyday.

Dinner was arranged at Waterfront restaurant and the variety was pretty good. Food quality and taste was good. Among all meals, dinner was best at Goa Marriott Resort & Spa. But when you go to Goa, usually you have breakfast at the hotel and other meals are usually outside and recommended that way only :). There is so much to explore in Goa in terms of food. If you like Prawn Biryani, we like this place called "Sunny Side Up" on Candolim Beach. It's a modest place which served good sea food and liquor. Location is pretty good and I am little biased as Vibha and I had the best time on Candolim beach during our first trip together to Goa. Panjim town has great places to try Konkan food, sea food etc. If you are really into food, there are some interesting places run by local families to serve you local food in interesting setups.
