Danke ki Chot, Bikaner, Rajasthan || The perfect place for authentic, tasty, reasonable vegetarian Rajasthani food
We had been walking around the city of old Bikaner for hours and we hadn't had anything to eat. The lengendary kachoris of Bikaner had evaded us thus far and had started appearing like myths or mirages to us. And we did not want to have momos, dosas, or punjabi thali when in Bikaner. It was right when we were about to get desperate when we took a turn and noticed a strange scene on our left.

In what appeared to be a temple kind of a complex, there was a counter and some people packing food plastic bags. We noticed a rate list as well and it listed various common Rajasthani curries and dishes and the rates were in Kgs. So you could buy 1 kg of Gatta Curry and 1 kg of rotis or puris (about 30-32 pieces in a kilo). And this quantity, as per the lady at the counter, would be enough for 6-7 people.

And you could also purchase one plate and eat at the restaurant. One plate of gatta curry with 5 pooris would cost us Rs. 50. Because we also wanted to try other things at other places, we just ordered 1 thali between the two of us.
The curry was really, really good. And since this was a Jain place the food was probably without onion and garlic etc. And despite that the curry was perfect.

You could also order thali with Paneer, which costed Rs. 75. We didn't particularly feel like having paneer, so we can't share any feedback about that. However, it looked like a well-managed, consistent, and confident place, so we feel that it would be good.

Apart from this, the shop also prepares and sells Kachoris, Samosa, Mirch Pakora, Break Pakora, and other Rajasthani savouries. And it also sells dessert such as laddus, seera etc. By the time we had reached this place, at about 7 in the evening, snack options were sold out, else we would have definitely tried kachoris.
