ABI's Residency in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu || A well-located, comfortable option for a night-stay close to Brihadesswara Temple
At the end of a tiring day, what is it that one looks forward to the most - heart-warming food and a clean, comfortable place to catch some rest. More so, when you know that the next day is going to be equally tiring. Finding these basic comforts at the end of each day of our 14-day long trip from Noida to Rameshwaram in Tamilnadu and Back, was the cause of much excitement and apprehension as well.
When we reached Thanjavur, an online search indicated that ABI's Residency should be a well-located, comfortable hotel. So we headed straight toward that.
But Google Maps wanted our day to end with some adventures. So it made us take narrow-roads instead of much more straight-forward wider roads that we discovered later, after we found the street which the hotel was on and parked our car.
Looking at the street, we saw that there were several other hotels around, so we also decided to check them out. By then end of this exercise we were scared. Most of the other hotels were so bad that we were afraid that ABI's residency too might disappoint.
With great apprehension, we headed to the hotel and to our relief, it was much better than other hotels in the vicinity. It was clean, and comfortable. The bedsheets were spotless and we were saved the pain of spreading out our own bedsheet.
Once we had checked in and freshened up a little, we headed out in search of food. And very close to the hotel, we found yet another family-run restaurant serving out fresh, hot dosas, idlis, sambhar and chutney. And we had a feast. By the time we were done, unfortunately, all coffee shops were closed, so we headed back to our hotel.
And we fell asleep as soon as we crashed. It was a peaceful sleep. we knew our car was safely parked right outside the hotel, and that we had a brilliant day of exploration lined up one we woke up.
In this trip, we were doing what we needed to do - so eating when we needed to eat, sleeping when we needed to sleep, and just making the most of each day. Despite relying heavily on devices for navigation, playlists, and for recording our days, we felt that we were not their slaves. We were hardly spending any time on social media, there was no needless scrolling of timelines, no endless watching of reels. And yes, our days felt so productive.
About ABI's residency, yes, that was pretty great too. That it was within a few 100 metres from the majestic Brihadeeswara (Big) temple, was a big bonus as well.
