Kake da Dhaba is a legendary restaurant located in the heart of Delhi's bustling Connaught Place area. Known for its mouth-watering Punjabi cuisine and warm hospitality, Kake da Dhaba has been a favorite among locals and tourists alike for over 75 years.
The restaurant was established in the 1940s by Late Harnarain Singh, and since then, it has become an iconic landmark in Delhi's food scene. The interiors of the restaurant are simple and rustic, with wooden furniture and walls adorned with pictures of famous personalities who have dined at the restaurant.
Kake da Dhaba is a popular restaurant known for its delicious Punjabi cuisine in Delhi, India. However, one of the major challenges faced by the restaurant is maintaining hygiene standards. Many customers have reported issues related to cleanliness, such as dirty utensils, unclean tables, and poorly maintained washrooms. The restaurant's management has made some efforts to improve hygiene, but there is still a long way to go. The high footfall at Kake da Dhaba makes it even more challenging to maintain cleanliness throughout the day. The restaurant's popularity has resulted in long waiting times, which further adds to the difficulty of keeping the premises clean. Therefore, while the food at Kake da Dhaba is undoubtedly great, hygiene remains a significant challenge for the restaurant.
The menu at Kake da Dhaba is a celebration of Punjabi cuisine, with dishes that are rich in flavor and aroma. Some of the must-try dishes at the restaurant include their famous Butter Chicken, Chicken Curry, Dal Makhani, and Tandoori Roti. One of the unique features of the restaurant is that the food is cooked on traditional earthenware stoves, which imparts a smoky and authentic flavour to the dishes.
When Vibha and I visited it, we order butter chicken and it was ok. It was certainly worth the money, as it's not an expensive place to have a meal. While coming back, we were debating why Kake da Dhaba is so celebrated in Delhi and one thing we could think of - probably food was comparatively better in the past but now that there are so many options with delicious food, it's not one of the outstanding places in Delhi. People still go there, as it serves good quantity for the money is charges. So certainly it's a value for money place with may not be the best butter chicken but decent food.
Apart from the food, Kake da Dhaba is also known for its warm hospitality and personalized service. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they go out of their way to make diners feel at home.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and it can get quite crowded during peak hours. However, the wait is well worth it, and the experience of dining at Kake da Dhaba is truly unforgettable.
Please remember that there is always waiting outside the Kake da Dhaba, so expect to wait for 15-20 mins. Crowd outside the restaurant is one of the celebrated sign and hence these places, don't want to solve it which makes sense from business standpoint.
Kake da Dhaba is a good restaurant for anyone who loves Punjabi cuisine and wants to experience authentic flavors and warm hospitality. Whether you're a local or a tourist, a meal at Kake da Dhaba is sure to be one of the highlights of your visit to Delhi.
